The first position “Wuji” is a simple standing posture which enables you to relax your body in preparation for the second position.

The second position “Holding the Balloon” is the key posture in the whole system. The focus will be that you become thoroughly comfortable in both of these positions.

By holding a posture in stillness you can develop internal strength, improve your posture and alignment, root your structure, calm your mind, loosen soft tissue and develop the skill of body awareness.

Would you like to gain an abundance of energy by doing nothing? Have a go.

In autumn we have to conserve and save our energy to prepare for winter. Autumn is the season of the metal element. In Traditional Chinese Medicine the metal element is associated with the lungs (yin) and the large intestine (yang) both deal with purification and elimination. It is important that we support those organs during this time to prepare for the coming winter to avoid coughs and lung infections.

What do you think Tai Chi and Qi Gong are?

Often people say “What is it?” or “I’ve always wanted to do Tai Chi or Qigong it looks so soft and gentle, with the waving your hands in the air.”
People are drawn to the Classical Chinese practices for many reasons.

The main difference between Qigong and other types of exercise is contained within the word Qigong itself: ‘Qi’ means life energy, and ‘gong’ means work or method. Qigong is a method of cultivating and balancing Qi (life energy).

Our Qi flows along specific pathways in our bodies known as meridians and where the Qi flow is blocked or absent, pain and illness can result.

In Qigong we learn to focus on gently opening and stretching the joints and muscles. This releases tension that has often been there for years in such a way to balance our posture and open our meridians ensuring Qi can flow freely to every part of our body to bring health and vitality. Because of the internal focus of Qigong practices, there are exercises that we can use to move in ways that massage and send the energy to specific organs in our bodies.

Qigong will promote your health and longevity.

For the ones who are curious, please come and try my classes Monday 5-6.30 at the Wellington Centre.

Qigong Workshop Ba Duan Jin or 8 Pieces of Brocade

4th February 9.30-12.30pm at the Wellington Center, TN34 1PN

The earliest written record of Ba Duan Jin dates from the Northern Song (pronounced soong) Dynasty (960–1279)

Ba means eight, Duan means pieces or sections, and Jin refers to the finest silk, or brocade. Jin has the connotation of a person’s best, most precious and decorative possession. The Ba Duan Jin Qi Gong is composed of eight postures, and the name suggests that this form of exercise is the most valuable thing a person could have.

The physical stretching movements stimulate the flow of Qi through the meridians, improving strength and flexibility of the entire body. It is practiced to improve health, and to calm and heal the mind, body and spirit. It is known for its simplicity and effectiveness.

Following these exercises a short introduction to standing meditation. Relax and feel. Stand like a tree.

This Workshop is suitable for all levels. Please email me at info@qigongclass.co.uk or call me on 07492 209190 if you have any questions or would like to attend the workshop.

Fee is £65 for all sessions, the full amount is payable when you book your place.
