Mother Blessing Ceremony

The Mother Blessing Ceremony is designed to honour and empower the new mother, to prepare her on her journey to birth and motherhood, surrounding her with loving care, strength and support.

Stepping into motherhood is a rite of passage celebrated by various cultures around the world, yet not in the western culture. We celebrate transitions like birthdays, graduations, weddings and anniversaries but we rarely celebrate the expectant mother. Unlike a traditional baby shower, where the focus is on the baby and gifts for him, a Mother Blessing focuses on supporting and encouraging the mother-to-be by acknowledging this phase of physical, spiritual and emotional transformation.

Giving birth is a life changing event, and the way we experience pregnancy, birth and postpartum, has a rippling effect into the future life of the mother and of the child. It leaves an imprint of the energies that will carry the mother forward into her postpartum days and into motherhood. Not to mention the beautiful memories that the mother will cherish in her heart and use as a source of strength and love when facing challenging times.

This ritual is not attached to any religion and can be adapted to any belief system. It can be for every time a mother is expecting, not just for the 1st baby.

During a Mother Blessing a few close friends and family members come together to bless and celebrate the new mum. A variety of activities and rituals ban be weaved in. It can be held at home, in nature or you can hire a venue.
